HOMEWORK POLICY
I will be implementing a "limited" homework policy. Research has been unable to prove that homework improves student
performance. I continue to urge you to spend your
evenings doing things that are proven to correlate with student success. For example: eat dinner together as a family
when you can, read together, play outside, have kiddos do chores, and make sure
children are getting adequate sleep. It
is recommended that school-aged children (ages 6-13), obtain 9-11 hours of
sleep.
Below are a few reminders:
- Students should still be reading daily, even on the weekends, whether it involves picture books, magazines, cookbooks, manuals, newspapers, closed captioning on T.V., etc.
- Optional at-home work to support our curriculum and students’ success will be offered throughout the year.
- Studying and reviewing for tests and assessments at home will still be required. Also, if a student is absent, homework will likely be required.
